I used a tampon today.
A run of the mill experience for a woman in their early 30s, you may say. Or you may fall into the ‘oversharing’ camp. Either way, I’m proud. It’s been over 2 years since I last felt able to do something as mundane as use a tampon.
There are many facets of birth trauma. For me, getting my mental health back on track was the first port of call, but there is still healing to be done every day.
Driving past a hospital sign without wanting to be sick.
Feeling genuine joy rather than blind panic when a friend tells you they are pregnant.
Going for a run without feeling like your insides are going to fall out.
Using a tampon.
Everyday triumphs.
